Your own plan
Four papers, one sitting, one flat fee
One flat fee, for one person or a couple, quoted in writing after the first meeting. It covers two meetings, every draft until it reads right, the signing with witnesses and a notary, and a binder with scanned copies for whoever needs them.
A will
Who gets what, who looks after young children, and who settles things. Written so your executor can follow it without calling me.
Financial power of attorney
The person who can pay bills, talk to the bank and handle taxes if you can't. It works the day you sign it, or only later, your choice.
Health care power of attorney
The person who speaks to doctors for you when you can't speak for yourself, and how far their say goes.
Living will
What you want, and don't want, at the very end. Kept short so the people at the bedside can read it in a minute.
Not in the fee
What I quote separately
Some plans need more than the four papers. When yours does, you get a second written quote before any of it starts.
A deed to move a house or land
A revocable trust and moving accounts into it
Probate or any court filing

Questions before the signing day
How long does it take?
About three weeks from the first meeting to the signing, sooner if someone is ill.
Do my children have to know?
No. Many clients tell their children once it is signed, and give the agents a copy of their power of attorney then.
When should I update it?
After a marriage, a divorce, a death in the family, a move out of state, or every five years or so. A review of a plan I wrote is free.
